ORGANISATION FOR GENDER, CIVIC ENGAGEMENT AND YOUTH DEVELOPMENT
  What We Do

What we do

We consider and promote peace as a primary principle and a prime virtue, as a need for inner tranquility and serenity of soul, as a bedrock for the growth of persons and nations, so much more than freedom from or cessation of war or hostilities.

The organisation works to enable individuals to become autonomous beings who can assert their points of view and take initiatives in conjunction with others; Passing on and awakening in others such values as tolerance, solidarity and peace so that each may be given the ability to face up to conflict in a positive manner by transforming it. We say NO to the proliferation of small arms through out the country.

We promote conditions in which all members of the society have the same basic rights, security, opportunities, obligations and social benefits. Much of our resources are invested in reducing poverty. The Organisation partners with and support local initiatives to facilitate the elaboration and implementation of policies aimed at promoting the social functioning of individuals and groups and at protecting their rights. With full understanding of the devastating effect of HIV/AIDS among the poorest communities, we encourage and support actions aimed at stopping the spread and reversing the impact of the virus.

Our anti-poverty and development programs are extensive and inclusive. OGCEYOD advocate for and carries out development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. The organisation is keen at promoting and monitoring actions aimed at meeting the Millennium Development Goals. In this direction, the organsation addresses the two key concepts: the concept of “needs”, in particular the essential needs of the nation’s poor, to which overriding priority should be given; and the idea of limitations imposed by corruption, the state of technology and social organization on the environment’s ability to meet present and the future needs.

To realize these, we partner with local organizations, international organizations, diplomatic missions, foundations and individuals all over the world.
